In this unit students in this unit will undertake Speech Pathology Clinical Practice to develop competency according to Speech Pathology Australia Competency-Based Occupational Standards
(CBOS). This unit will facilitate the development of skills in the management of paediatric or adult clients across a range of practice areas. Students will be expected to demonstrate approaching entry-
level competency by the end of this penultimate placement

Unit Learning Outcomes
- 1 plan and implement appropriate evidence based speech pathology assessment and intervention for clients in community, health or education settings, GC2
- 2 communicate and work collaboratively with clients and carers, from a wide range of cultures to deliver client centred care within an inter-professional team, GC3, GC6
- 3 evaluate own performance and learning using reflective practice and recommend appropriate action plans to enhance current and future practice, GC4
- 4 integrate theoretical and clinical knowledge in practice to achieve approaching entry-level competency with either the adult or paediatric population, GC1, GC2, GC3
Course Learning Outcomes
- 1 apply knowledge of human communication science to the delivery of speech pathology services and research in diverse and changing settings
- 2 critically analyse information to plan, implement and evaluate speech pathology services and research
- 3 locate, extract and critically appraise evidence and information from a range of resources to solve theoretical and applied problems in human communication science with a high level of independence
- 4 demonstrate excellence in written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills appropriate to the discipline within a legal and ethical framework
- 5 use technologies relevant to the human communication sciences to inform clinical practice and research
