In this unit students will undertake speech pathology clinical practice to develop competency according to Speech Pathology Australia Competency-Based Occupational Standards (CBOS). This unit will facilitate the development of skills in the management of paediatric or adult clients in community, health and/or education settings. Students will be expected to demonstrate approaching intermediate-level competency by the end of this placement.
Tutorial 1 x 2 Hours Weekly 
Fieldwork 1 x 67.5 Hours Semester 

Unit Learning Outcomes

  • 1 plan and implement appropriate evidence based speech pathology assessment and intervention for clients in community, health and/or education settings, GC2
  • 2 ommunicate and work collaboratively with clients and carers from a wide range of cultures to deliver client centred care within an inter-professional team, GC3, GC6
  • 3 evaluate own performance and learning using reflective practice; identify and document ongoing professional learning needs and opportunities, GC4
  • 4 integrate theoretical and clinical knowledge to achieve approaching intermediate level competency with either the adult or paediatric population, GC1, GC2, GC3

  • 2 critically analyse information to plan, implement and evaluate speech pathology services and research
